Euphysa Flammea

The hydrozoan Euphysa flammea has a transparent bell. It starts out with one tentacle and develops another three tentacles as it grows, all white and yellow in colour but varying in length. They are carnivores that use their tentacles to capture prey and defend themselves from larger predators. The internal parts of the organism are red-orange in colour. It has a curtain-like membrane lining the edges of the bell that are used to move through the water. Very little is known about the behviour and ecology of Euphysa flammea.
